THE LANGUAGE OF STATE IN MAWLÂNÂ JALAL AL-DİN AL-RUMİ
In this essay, I will try examine language forms, in particular to
meaning and power of the language of state (lisân-ı hâl), the reasons
for speaking this language, the value and the benefits of this language
in reference to Mawlânâ. First, I will give a brief introduction of
Mawlânâ"s view of language of state in general.
1. An Outline of The Language of State in Mawlânâ"s Thought

“Has not the news of those before them come to them; of the people of
Noah and Ad and Samood, and the people of Ibrahim and the dwellers of
Madyan and the overthrown cities; their apostles came to them with clear
arguments; so it was not Allah Who should do them injustice, but they
were unjust to themselves.” (Tauba 9: 70).
Many people do act heedlessly in this world of examination where they
are supposed to live in awareness. This heedlessness and ignorance lead
them to a sorrowful defeat. The world becomes a place of deception for
them.

You are the most precious part of the universe, source of its pride,
and the sultan of the Prophets… The one who appreciates your beauty most
is the One who created you with peerless beauty… He is the One who
loves you more than anyone else and who calls you “my beloved.”… He is
the Lord of the world who, with the purpose of expressing the value He
bestowed upon you, made an oath on your life, “By your life! [O
Muhammad!]” (Hijr 15/72).
O the most beloved of the Souls and the Sultan of the Hearts!
The Door to Repentance Our Prophet –sallallahu alayhi wa sallam- says:
“When a servant obeys Allah Almighty, Allah grants him the Divine
Knowledge (al-marifa). When they forsake Allah’s obedience, He (swt)
does not take this marifa back. Rather, He (swt) leaves it on the heart
as evidence against them. He says to this servant on the Judgment Day:
– I have bestowed upon you and decorated you with the Divine
Knowledge of Me. Why did not you act with what you have been granted?
Why did not you practice your marifa?
